POSITION SUMMARY

Community Catalyst is a national not-for-profit consumer advocacy organization working to build a health justice movement. The State Health Advocacy Programs primary goals are to strengthen the capacity of consumer health advocacy organizations to impact policies related to health coverage and access to care in targeted states.  We seek two Field Coordinators to provide and coordinate a broad range of policy-based technical assistance to state and local consumer organizations. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide tailored technical assistance to program sites to support effective development and implementation of goals and work plans.  This includes providing either directly or through consultant contracts assistance in policy analysis, strategic planning, campaign strategy, coalition building, grassroots organizing, resource development and communications support.  Coordinators will regularly monitor sites and assist in adapting work plans
  • Assist in designing public education and training materials and conducting trainings for collaborating state/local groups
  • Function as program team member assisting with program design, proposal development and planning

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor’s and five years professional work experience in a related field or position.
  • Campaign knowledge, experience and expertise and/or community organizing experience, including grassroots empowerment or coalition building
  • Health policy knowledge, a plus
  • Writing ability
  • Research skills, a plus
  • Communication skills including public speaking, training and interviewing.
  • Ability to grasp and convey complex policy and political information in a way that is easily understood by non-experts
  • Strong leadership, relationship development, collaborative, and team building skills
  • Well-organized, detail oriented, and able to manage many tasks simultaneously
  • Bilingual/bicultural background a plus
  • Ability to travel
  • Sensitivity and experience addressing issues of diversity

Salary Range: $40,000-55,000 annually
