With new church, Jubilee to bring joy to Stoughton

Banner Staff

Bishop Gilbert A. Thompson is on a roll.
Jubilee Christian Church, already serving about 7,000 members at its Mattapan location, opens a new church in Stoughton this Sunday.

The church purchased the nearly 12-acre site in 2005 from the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Greater Boston in order to expand its ministry to South Shore communities. The church renovated the existing structure to include an 850-seat sanctuary, children’s teaching area, gymnasium and nursery.

The Stoughton church is just one of many projects Thompson has rolled out in recent years. Earlier this year, the church started construction on the $9 million Jubilee-Nehemiah Building in Dudley Square. The church also started its own record label, built an in-house recording studio, “Axiom Entertainment,” and opened Sanctuary Inc., a diverse bookstore now in three locations: Boston, Needham and Stoughton.

Located at 1278 Park St. (Route 27), Jubilee Christian Church Stoughton will open its doors with 9 a.m. and 11:30 am services.
