In what ways have television crime shows impacted the criminal justice system?

I don’t watch those shows. I see too much crime out here in the streets and those shows don’t help. People are already too afraid to testify unless something happens to them. James Harris

The shows have a negative and positive impact. The upside is that people who work in the criminal justice system can see the wrongs and try to treat everyone fairly.

The shows have been good because they show how DNA is used, which has helped a lot of people get out of prison because they have been wrongly convicted of crimes they didn’t commit.

Those shows have no impact. They are for people who have jobs and homes and televisions. But criminals don’t have time to watch them. They too busy trying to get paid by any way they know how.

Hyde Park
Those shows only teach the people in the system to harass black people even more. The shows don’t help us one bit. Don Thompson

Brockton
On one hand, the shows give criminals a false perception that they might be able to get away with something. On the other hand, the shows help the criminal justice system by keeping them up-to-date on all the new technologies.
