Oral Health Communications Coordinator

HEALTH CARE FOR ALL 

Health Care For All, a leading Massachusetts consumer health care advocacy organization, is seeking an Oral Health Communications Coordinator to manage its Watch Your Mouth Campaign (WYM) and lead its oral health public awareness and media activities.  Health Care For All (HCFA) serves as the primary staffing resource for the Massachusetts Watch Your Mouth Campaign.  WYM is a dynamic, statewide public awareness campaign with more than 1500 supporters including: consumers, advocates, health care professionals, academics, and insurers.  In collaboration with the Frameworks Institute, the campaign generates a variety of widely distributed campaign documents.  More information on the campaign can be found at www.watchyourmouth.org/massachusetts

The Oral Health Communications Coordinator is responsible for visioning and managing the daily operations of a multi-faceted, statewide oral health public awareness campaign – this includes initiating and implementing messaging strategy, seeking and maintaining collaborations with community groups and partner organizations, developing and maintaining a panel of campaign spokespersons, integration of Watch Your Mouth into other HCFA initiatives, supervision of staff, and other duties. The Oral Health Communications Coordinator works closely with the Oral Health Policy Coordinator to implement HCFA’s and the Oral Health Advocacy Taskforce’s oral health policy agenda. 

QUALIFICATIONS

·       2-3 years experience managing a public awareness or political campaign;

·       Strong analytic and writing skills, including the ability to write clear and effective documents for a wide range of audiences

·       High level of comfort with public speaking and speaking with new audiences

·       Established political skills, including a thorough understanding of the political and legislative processes related to Massachusetts health policy and the state budget process;

·       Experience with advocacy, communications and community organizing

·       Excellent planning, project management and coordination skills

·       Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with a team

·       Flexibility to manage diverse responsibilities in a fast-paced environment

·       Strong management skills including supervision and evaluation

·       Commitment to issues of diversity, social justice and health care for all

·       Master’s degree preferred

·       Must have reliable transportation

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

·       Manage Watch Your Mouth initiatives including scheduled media buys, earned media campaign, spokesperson trainings, educational material distribution, and outreach activities

·       Identify and implement new directions for Watch Your Mouth campaign initiatives and oral health public awareness messaging  

·       Work in partnership with oral health team members to cultivate emerging leaders: work with members of the Oral Health Advocacy Taskforce and its workgroups, external coalitions and other groups who will act as oral health spokespersons

·       Oversee maintenance of relationships with existing panel of campaign spokespersons and affiliated organizations; including community groups interested in incorporating campaign principles and products into their initiatives

·       Further develop existing panel of campaign spokespersons; including designing and distributing the next generation of training resources, and further creation of community among spokespersons

·       Work in partnership with the oral health team to identify and support the most effective spokesperson(s) to communicate policy and public awareness messages depending on the issue

·       Cultivate opportunities to present the Watch Your Mouth campaign to local, state and national audiences, including participation in local, state and national conferences

·       Oversee oral health team’s delivery of Watch Your Mouth presentations and building the campaign’s support network

·       Finalize all campaign documents, including assisting oral health team members in materials development, assisting outside organizations to frame oral health documents appropriately

·       Oversee and assist with database management, newsletter creation, and fulfillment of material requests

·       Lead the Oral Health Advocacy Taskforce’s Public Awareness/Watch Your Mouth working group

·       Support Oral Health Policy Coordinator in development of HCFA’s and the Taskforce’s oral health policy goals and the communication of those goals to stakeholders

·       Support fundraising for HCFA’s oral health work: including completing regular reporting in a thorough and timely manner; maintaining and developing relationships with funder organizations

·       Supervise Watch Your Mouth Campaign Coordinator; and

·       Other responsibilities as necessary.

Salary Range: $42,000-$47,000 annually
