About the Fair Housing Center:  Led by a diverse Board of Directors and staff, the Fair Housing Center of Greater Boston is a dynamic organization working to eliminate housing discrimination and promote open communities throughout the region. The Fair Housing Center is the region’s only comprehensive fair housing organization, providing expertise and a full tool kit of fair housing services: Discrimination Testing, Case Advocacy, Training, Community Outreach, Policy Advocacy, and Research.

About the Fair Housing Enforcement Program: Receiving hundreds of inquires and complaints each year, the Fair Housing Center offers full case advocacy services, including testing for proof of discrimination, representing the complainant throughout HUD’s or the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination’s (MCAD) administrative processes, and securing pro bono legal counsel if litigation is required.  As the region’s sole source of housing discrimination testing services, we use this controlled method of measuring and documenting variations in the treatment of home seekers by housing providers that provides a compelling picture of how and if discrimination is at play. 

Position Description:  The Testing Coordinator manages discrimination investigations.

• Recruit, train, and maintain active pool of volunteers to investigate housing discrimination.

• Conduct community outreach, workshops and trainings

• Coordinate one-time and systemic testing investigations into housing discrimination  

• Maintain detailed case records; prepare accurate and reliable summaries of findings for legal cases

Position Description: The Bilingual Spanish Case Advocate assists people who have experienced housing discrimination. 

• Coordinate intake, referral and resolution of housing discrimination complaints, including maintaining regular contact with complainants, advocating on their behalf in court or at HUD and MCAD, and/or negotiating with housing providers to resolve complaints

• Maintain detailed case records, and prepare and present accurate and reliable narrative of case findings/recommendations and statistics

Compensation:  Both positions offer a flexible schedule, respecting work/life balance, in a convenient Downtown Crossing office with a positive, multicultural work environment.  The Fair Housing Center offers a competitive salary, commensurate with experience, and benefits including health insurance, cafeteria plan, generous vacation and sick leave, and retirement contribution after 1 year.
